Featured Artist: Jan Weiss

Born and raised in suburban Northern California, artist Jan Weiss has a love for mixed media, glue, paint, gel mediums and textured paper. Inspired by views from textures in the earth, multi-cultural colors, patterns and handmade paper, Jan uses this inspiration to express an original thought, a unique idea and an individual expression. In addition to mixed media, Jan creates digital illustrations with layers of watercolor effects offering finished pieces in rich tones and compelling hues.

“I create with a variety of material – paper, glue, gel medium, acrylic paints and somehow I keep making new stuff. I get bored easily and can never make the same thing twice – similar yes, but not exact.”

New Artist: Najah Clemmons

Najah Clemmons attended College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina and graduated with a B.F.A. She has developed a new love for mixed media and cut paper. Her works began to reflect the marriage of paper textures and painterly strokes. Just recently she has begun to explore the boldness of color in graphic design medium.

“As an artist, I am true to myself when I utilize all that I’ve learned and all that I am in my work.”

Featured Artist: Janet Kruskamp

“Since I was old enough to hold a crayon, and then a brush, I have always known that I was going to be a real artist. In my life as an artist, I have travelled down many roads of discovery. From Impressionism to Realism and even poster art, I have encountered challenges and excitement in every style, medium and subject matter. Being an artist is not just what I do, it is who I am.”

New Artist: Suzanne Silk

A little piece of art by Suzanne Silk is a form of auto-biographical narrative that incorporates digital art photography with translucent fiber fragments from the artist’s hand dyed and screened “Art to Wear” collection. Pigments, resin and wax mediums enrich the surface of each richly textured visual poem. “Inspiration comes from living with curiosity, seeing what is possible and connecting all things.”
